~THE ROOST~
~ Traditional Norfolk Flint Holiday Cottage ~
~ Northrepps North Norfolk ~

ABOUT
Formally farm buildings, with the first floor added in the mid 1900s, this traditional Norfolk stone cottage sits on the outskirts of the sought-after village of Northrepps and is just a fifteen-minute walk to the beach.
The cottage has a fully enclosed courtyard at the rear and a fenced off garden at the front ideal for keeping your dogs (or children) safe. There is off road safe parking for one vehicle at the front of the house.
The area is a must for walkers with access to many public footpaths right outside the cottage. Overstrand beach is just a 15 minute walk, whilst in the other direction you can walk down to an ancient woodland which is packed with bluebells in May.
It is just a ten minute walk down to the pub in Northrepps which serves great beers, wines and spirits and has a varied pub grub menu. Every Sunday in the spring/summer they typically have a live band playing from about 4pm. There is also a good pub in Overstrand village where there is also a lovely garden centre with coffee shop, a post office and a cliff top café which is very popular on Sundays serving great breakfasts.
The beach at Overstrand and Cromer are both beautiful sandy beaches, however if you drive further up the coast there are amazing salt marshes and shingle beaches, rolling sand dunes and picturesque quays all within easy reach. Make time for a trip to Cromer and stroll along the famous pier or enjoy a spot of breakfast or lunch on the promenade where there is one of 5 end of pier theatres left in the UK and the shows are well worth seeing

THINGS TO DO
Bure Valley Railway
The Bure Valley Railway is the longest narrow gauge railway in Norfolk. The railway runs between Aylsham and Wroxham which is in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The 18 mile journey follows the river Bure and stops at the beautiful villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall.
Coastal Walks
The walks along the coast from the cottage are quite spectacular. You can walk down to Overstrand and then along the beach to Cromer, stopping to have a look at the “Banksy” along the way. In the other direction you can walk along the cliff top to Trimingham, there are spectacular views along this walk.
Norfolk Broads
Whilst nearer the coast, a short 20 minute drive will find you in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. There are just too many venues to mention in this short description but needless to say that between the Norfolk coast and the Broads you have one of the most diverse areas in the country you can visit.
Amazonia Zoo
Situated on the outskirts of Cromer, Amazonia Zoo is home to over 200 animal species, which includes Jaguar, Monkeys, Snakes, Ocelot, Pumas, Flamingos and Tapirs. A trip to the zoo is a great day out for all the family, it even has a soft play area for the under 12’s
History buffs will be spoilt for choice too with the Thursford Collection with their much-celebrated Christmas Spectacular and Santa’s Magical Journey and the Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham Estates waiting for their visit. You can also be in the heart of the Norfolk Broads in just half an hour too.
You can charter your own day launch or join a tour, hop on the Bure Valley Railway, which takes you across open countryside to the market town of Aylsham or visit nearby BeWilderwood. There is so much nature and wildlife to discover in the area and if that is what you are looking for as part of your break you should make time to visit RSPB Cley Marshes, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Sheringham Park.
Add in Amazonia Zoo, North Norfolk Railway, the Muckleburgh Collection, numerous local museums and so much more and you are sure to have worked up a strong appetite, which is a great excuse to visit one of the many local inns, cafés and restaurants serving good sized Norfolk portions packed with homecooked food. Then after a busy day and with your appetite satiated, you can head back to the Roost and light the barbeque or maybe raise a glass of something chilled by the fire. Just lovely! Beach 1 mile.
